i personally think that kobayashi was better than glock..
The chance that Timo Glock will be fit to return to the wheel of his Toyota in Abu Dhabi this weekend is "90 per cent", according to the German driver's manager.
On Monday, Glock is scheduled to have medical tests to assess his return to fitness.
According to his manager Hans Bernd Kamps, Glock's chances of racing this weekend are "90 per cent", the German news agency DPA said.
If not given the green light for Abu Dhabi, Glock's number 10 Toyota will again be raced by team reserve driver Kamui Kobayashi.

Drivers must 'respect' Abu Dhabi track
My personal opinion, the Greatness of Spa Francorchamp can not be replace.

Well said jenni thats the same as i thought

Bernie's money is 'buying' the respect for the track, just like how these high paying tracks all do at first.
Respect is earned not bought, we have too many crappy tracks which have been hyped up at the start and then later proven to be duds and utters bores.
Valencia
Singapore
China
Now we have Abu Dhabi.
Prove it on track and then fans will respect it. Fancy buildings on the side never does anything for the fans.

wew will see how good the track is in 6 days i truelly hope it is a good track and people can overtake ther but by the looks of it that wont happen

Unlikely as the driver themselves agree to what is obvious, to many large braking zones where there can be only 1 optimum entry line. Moving of course means seriously hampering the laptimes.
Its too much of a technical track where the engineers need to work over time to find balance between low downforce sections and high downforced sections of the track.
Drivers will be more mindful of their laptimes than actual gusty racing.

So we're all set for an exciting finish to this exciting season, then??

Unfortunately chrissie thats how it looks for the moment.
Seeing how crappy some tracks are we are desperate to be proven wrong this time around, but that maybe too much to ask for these days.

tension, u can add bahrain's track too..
the race is really boring..
the funny part is when u go to the race, u see lots of people there just meeting with their friends (it's like a picnic) and not interested in the race at all!!!

Dc who was once a driver were now willing to even be paid by Bernie to said something like respecting the track the way we like Suzuka and Spa, i think is a shame
We are not a driver and yet we just can see how great those track was compare to Valencia and others. A great track will remain the greatest. Nothing can be replace.

Kimi Raikkonen speaks on the eve of his final Grand Prix with Ferrari:
"The race in Abu Dhabi will be my last Grand Prix with Ferrari and as usual I will give it everything to gain the best possible result. We’ll try to conclude this difficult year with a good result, hoping that it will be enough to gain the third place in the Constructors’ Championship, McLaren took over in Brazil.
It will be difficult, because the competition is very strong. Furthermore in Brazil the two Titles have been assigned, so maybe there are certain drivers, who will risk a little bit more, as everything has been decided already. Our direct competitors are still improving their car, while we have been using the same car since the race in Hungary at the end of July.
There are many expectations as far as the Yas Marina circuit is concerned, but it’s difficult making any predictions, because we’re racing there for the first time. As far as we can see the organisers have done some great work and the circuit seems to me very interesting and challenging. Furthermore there will be a very special challenge, given the fact that we’ll start the race in sunlight, while it will end with artificial lights: this will definitely add some suspense.
As I wrote before, it’s time for me to say good-bye to the guys at Ferrari after three years together. I’m proud of the things we achieved, especially the Drivers’ Title in 2007 and the Constructors’ title in the same year and in 2008.
This season the car wasn’t as competitive as we wanted, but at least we managed to win one race and we gained a certain amount of points. Let’s hope we can conclude the season with something nice to be remembered!"

Alonso set for 'emotional' Renault exit
Quote:"Absolutely, I would love to finish the season and my Renault career with a great result," said Alonso. "It will be an emotional race because I have enjoyed so many special memories with this team and I am leaving behind a lot of friends.
"Renault is one of the great teams in Formula One and I look forward to fighting with them on the track in the years ahead."
Team boss Bob Bell paid tribute to Alonso, who he concedes will be missed by Renault.
"He's made a huge contribution to the team, especially winning two world championships in 2005 and 2006 so he will be missed enormously," said Bell.

It sure will be emotional, two championships and the only team ready to offer a decent refuge from Mclaren after 2007.
But Renault had it's chance and they blew it by hiring morons and went cheap on salary for engineers.

You can see here in this video of Burno Senna taking to the track and how the pitlane exit is both annoying and a safety hazard for recovery.
This track is proving to be more and more of a lunacy than creativity.

That was a bored track as i can see , hopefully the race was not bored.
10-27-2009, 11:57 PM
yeah, the pitlane will coz some problems as it's under a tunnel so in case of an accident, it'll be very difficult to remove the car and also as it's the first race there, they may be little slow and don't know what to do..
hope to see a good race there!!

10 facts about Abu Dhabi
Quote:• longest straight on the Formula 1 calendar. It stretches for 1.2 kilometres.
• The end of that straight is also unique - as it features a run-off area that extends below the West Grandstand. Cars spinning off will therefore carry on underneath the spectators.
• Abu Dhabi is proud to boast that every single grandstand seat at the track is covered – a first for a Formula 1 circuit.
• The pitlane exit is the only underground one on the calendar. After leaving the pits, the drivers descend into a tunnel that turns 90 degrees left and runs underneath the track after Turn 1.
• The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be Formula 1's first day-night race. The event starts in twilight at 5pm and will finish at night – although the track will be illuminated by floodlights.
• The track runs underneath the posh five-star Yas Hotel – which will be lit for much of the Abu Dhabi weekend.
• More than 14,000 staff worked on creating the new Yas Marina circuit from scratch in February 2007. It took them a total of 35 million man hours to complete the track.
• Race organisers have gone out of their way to make sure the teams are comfortable – by installing air-conditioned pit buildings for the mechanics
• There is a nice bit of number symmetry to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It will be 55 laps around a 5.55 kilometre track.
• The corporate blue branding of the Yas Marina circuit has been chosen because it matches the colour of the local water.
