Own goal by Mclaren and Ferrari being smug and not going out early serves them right, morons. Great calls by Redbull and Mercedes. Webber made the right call on the inters where as vettel was o the full-wets so the difference in pace. But nonetheless they are at the front. Superb stuff from Nico Hulkenburg and Sutil. Nico again pounds shoe. He was quicker when it didn't matter and slower when it mattered. Nico must be raking this all in and building in confidence.
FAILS: FIA for stopping the Q3 being sissys trying to baby the drivers all the time, this F1 not baby racing. Arseholes.

I consider this as an interesting session except the part where they stop the Q3 while when the track was not really that flooded

Quote:A very bad qualifying for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, as both its drivers failed to get through to the second part of the session. Fernando Alonso was nineteenth fastest, with Felipe Massa twenty first. “We are very disappointed with the way qualifying went,” said Stefano Domenicali. “We made an error of judgement in trusting the weather forecast: when we went out on track the rain, rather than dying down, suddenly got even stronger. With hindsight, it is easy to say we should have gone out immediately. It’s a real shame because all the signs were that we could have done well and now we will have to prepare for an uphill fight in the race. But there’s no point in crying about things before they have even happened, because the race is not until tomorrow. And as we saw today, anything could happen. We will try and pick up as many points as possible, making the most of any opportunity that presents itself.”
Fernando Alonso: “We were expecting the rain to stop and that’s why we stayed in the garage longer than the others. When we went out, in fact the conditions got worse and even on the extreme wets, we were unable to improve our time. Rain might make things more spectacular, but the session just turns into a lottery. Today, it went badly for us and we found ourselves in the wrong place – the track – at the wrong time. However, the result of qualifying is only worth the paper on which it is written, because the points are assigned at the end of the race. Of course, starting from the back puts us in a difficult position but, as we saw last Sunday in Melbourne, anything can happen and we have to trust in our abilities. We must do our best to bring home a points finish.”
Felipe Massa: “We are very sorry about what happened. We waited a bit before going out, because it was raining hard and the forecast was for an improvement, however we found ourselves out on track where there was more water than predicted. We made a mistake and we were caught out by the weather forecast. Now we must do our best for tomorrow’s race. It will be tough, as always when you start from the back of the grid, but we will have to try and score at least a few points. It’s hard to say whether it’s better to hope for rain or sunshine: maybe with the former there might be more chance of the tables being turned, but it’s equally true that there are more chances of ending up out of the race.”
Chris Dyer: “Obviously, we are very disappointed. Yesterday, we did a good job of preparing for the weekend and this morning, the F10 was clearly very competitive in the dry and we therefore hoped for a good result this afternoon. The way the weather changed caught us on the back foot. An improvement had been predicted up to the end of Q1 and, in those circumstances it made sense to go out in the late stages. We went out at the mid point and after a few laps, some of them spoiled by yellow flags, the rain got heavier and we could no longer improve our performance, even if Fernando got very close right at the end. A real shame, as tomorrow’s race now becomes a case of damage limitation because of our grid positions. All the same, we are confident that we have a competitive car and we also have faith in our drivers, therefore we will try and make the most of this situation.”

Thats a huge gamble there Ferrari, i hope they can recover tomorrow

Ferrari better not stuff it with any bold decisions based on weather predictions that haven't arrived. If they play it by ear and react to what the track is doing and not what a screen says it might do then another kimi on wet tyres 7 laps before it rains scenario should not happen.

Exactly and if am not mistaken, there havent be a rain fall after the qualifying session over, till now no rain, clear sky. I hope by morning no rain approach. What is more horrible is i think towards evening rain is expected. Hopefully it is after race.

I fear alot of rain and alot of crashes spins and general carnage. It's going to be such a lottery if the conditions keep changing in the race. My prediction and alot of peoples might aswell go out the window LOL.

I'm actually really excited, going to sleep early to pass the time, I love races early in the mornings like this.

A very disappointing race although I'm definately looking forward to the race tomorrow, who knows what will happen? Hopefully it'll be nice and exciting :) The real downside to qualifying is I think it messed up my TCC prediction haha

For crying out loud.
The ONE thing F1 teams know is that in order to qualify you HAVE TO QUALIFY!!!!!
So what kind of weather systems do they have at McRappen and Ferrari???? Is it the "We're so great we don't need the weather" system or is it the "we don't really want to get our diffuser's wet" system???
Stupid stupid F1 teams.
But, at least we'll have a myriad of safety cars tomorrow and a great race. Still....stupid Ferrari.

Mclaren and Ferrari were smug and they got caned handily. They do get smug from time to time. Stefano is an arshole swho keeps saying "we must respect our competitors" But he never does what he preaches.
Its a common sense when the weather is unpredictable you get in a banker lap as soon as you can even if its slightly wet. This is a big fail in brain cells and intelligence.

I actually like Stefano, after years of Jean Cod he's a refreshing change. Ferrari are a very warm yet stone cold team; Domenicalli is warm cream in a Gazpacho...........
I know what I mean!!I'm so surprised that Ferrari AND McCrappen both stayed in the pits; perhaps the "I can do it better than you" mentality has finally born fruit.
I was impressed with Hammy's interview post-quali. It's always a treat to see a "dickhead" with a smile on his face......

Shamilton was talking as if Alonso Massa and some others are mere 'also-rans' which is why he is not cared about them and will drive his arse (heart) out.
