Romain Grosjean joins Kimi Raikkonen at Lotus Renault for 2012
Autosport
Well done Grosjean I think he deserved it with his driving in GP2 this year alone. He has matured alot since 2009, let's see how he will measure up against another world champion driver in the form of Kimi Raikkonen. This is a good pairing.

RE: Romain Grosjean joins Kimi Raikkonen at Lotus Renault for 2012
You serious?
That guy was nothing special against Alonso, even if Alonso was number 1 at Renault, brilliance will show through at some point. Romain did no better than Nelson Piquet jnr, this is guy is a waste of space. He is coming in due to Renault pressure and more importantly to secure major oil and petrol sponsor Total. He is your average pay driver. GP2 as a feeder series is already unconvincing. With only Nico Rosberg proving to be best product of out of GP2 the rest are over hyped and unable to do much without ultra fast machinery. Renault are REALLY stupid to let go of Petrov and Bruno Senna. Tsk Tsk. This guy will be a terrible joke once again. Eric Boullier has got nothing right since his arrival other than signing Kimi Raikkonen. If this is how things are moving along at Renault its not looking like progress is being made to improve the state of their cars. Lets hope at least that area has a chance to improve unlike their driver line up. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Aryton SENNA, the 1 and ONLY I'll be there to personally to slap michael shoe-licker when the "Farting Horse" empire falls and its years of cheating exposed.

A bit harsh but make no mistake if he performs like he did in 09 he will get the boot mid season. It's become Renaults policy but I think he will be better but we shall see who's right.

RE: Romain Grosjean joins Kimi Raikkonen at Lotus Renault for 2012
You can put money on it that he will suck as before. And that's exactly the problem because when he does they don't have Petrov or Bruno to fall back on anymore. Kubica is gone, the rest is just PR spin. If Kubica is any fit to drive in F1 (not even sure on that) he will be looking elsewhere.
In any sport if you are any good it will show through. Alonso, Kimi, vettel, Mika, DC all showed what they were about in the very first few races they ever drove regardless of the teammate or car. But this guy was completely destroyed by Alonso (many races Romain was a lap down), even the demoralized number 2 Massa performs better than what Romain did in 2009. Giving more chances is not going to change that. You need something in guy to start with. This guy never had it in him. A few Friday practice runs are completely pointless, you can stage laptimes by running various fuel loads when the regular guys are doing their intended routines on heavier loads. All this really shows is that oil giant Total's money was a bit more than Petrov's money. Even if Grosjean sucks getting the boot is not really that much of a certainty anymore. They let go of someone like Petrov who was on a steady rise. Petrov also had the money, but that wasn't apparently enough for LRGP. It shows they are ready to take a performance handicap for the larger extra money that's coming in. If the money is as big as it looks, it wont be a surprise if he will be there for atleast 2 years regardless of how crap he drives. At this rate chances for Lotus Renault to progress is looking bleak being so cash strapped to the point they have to hire someone who couldn't cut if the first time around. There is also talk of Genni capital trying to dump its shares and get rid of the team ownership while it's stock is still decent. Renault will not buy this team out, Lotus is a miser when it comes to spending. The team is doomed if Genni plans to sell to some cheapo non-car maker. We can almost see what Eric is trying to do here, they think Kimi will get all the goods while Mr also ran grosjean will feed the project with much needed money and at the end of the year if they are in a good constructors position, the prize money from FOM will save their arses. This gamble only works if they have a a half decent car like they had in 2008 mid season to start with. No guarantees on that. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Aryton SENNA, the 1 and ONLY I'll be there to personally to slap michael shoe-licker when the "Farting Horse" empire falls and its years of cheating exposed.

Yeah now that they have Kimi I think they think they can take a gamble on the second seat but since they don't have continuity with the drivers they will need a decent car straight away otherwise it may fall on there faces and boullier will find the next person to blame.

Romain: You beat my arse pretty bad, could you cut me some slack?
Alonso: Naaaaw don't think so friend.... The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Aryton SENNA, the 1 and ONLY I'll be there to personally to slap michael shoe-licker when the "Farting Horse" empire falls and its years of cheating exposed.

I think that was part of the caption tension (Alonso saying to Grosjean)
![]() Grosjean is definitely a weird choice, I was pretty sure they'd keep Petrov on...I guess his little outburst had more of an effect than we had been led to believe

Thanks RedRises, commenting that this month, Fernando Alonso will be in Oviedo (Asturias) to hold a track meet with all the fans for a charity gala.
If I see a photo, share it. regards |
