Redbull RB6
The car is definitely an evolution, nothing radical interms of departure but more of clever tweaking. And there are plenty of them
They have moved the rear suspension forwards and the diffuser attachment further back, this solved most of the obstruction problems they had last year with a very low rear end. They really want to keep their superior mechanical grip which will serve them well in the wets. The diffuser will be very good on the RB6 compared to the handicapped RB5. But now the question is can their altered approach combat the fully aggressive diffusers that Mclaren and Mercedes have in their cars? If you ask me, if anyone can pull it off its Newey. Stay tuned for a full indepth review. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. RE: Redbull RB6
Adrian Newey is a real genius engineer!! confirmed is pull rod. Very interesting, they really want to keep their superior mechanical grip albeit sacrificing some of that extra down force in dry. Cool!

RE: Redbull RB6
Indeed Jenni, now all we need is some sneak shots of that diffuser zone.

RE: Redbull RB6
The picture not good enough the diffuser seems not that large infact i think they have done a clever job it having a decent velocity difference above and below the channels like tension said volume doesnt matter it is the angle and placement that matters. and they have indeed moved the rear suspension forwards to bring more space behind for the diffuser in a way that the low pull rod setups doesnt come in the way of the diffuser as much as possible.

RE: Redbull RB6
Some updates to the RB6 on the exhaust alignment and positioning.
Old location The launch location fo the exhausts were already in line with last year's idea to to keep to the lowest level of better dissipation avoiding airflow density variances and disruption around the rear end. Especially since they designed everything without the multi-deck diffuser in mind. Notice the yellow highlight. ![]() New location The new location is specifically designed to energize the flow at the edge of the diffusers to drive more suction out of the underside of the car. This is not ideally usefull in F1 as explained --->here<---. Why Redbull wants to go down this route is strange, but we will get some hints from the first race performance as to why they need this. Perhaps they want to rely on more downforce without drag from the rear wings by running lower wings but still having enough downforce from the energized diffusers. But then the lower wing levels are not going to help in cornering downforce. It is probably aimed at gaining more fuel economy. As I repeated time and time again, he who carries less fuel stands more of a chance to win. This change is shown yellow highlight. Also notice the grey highlight of the "fake" exhaust paint job. This is very funny, its not like the rival teams will be fooled by this paint job to create an illusion that the old location for the exhausts still exists. It is almost like they tried to hide the new location of the exhausts from their rivals. Yeah right, no one is dumb enough to get bought by this. I think Redbull is showing their technical sense of humor.

RE: Redbull RB6
Redbull's alleged ride height allegations will soon loose steam, because there is none. I am now onto something. The team has done something on the aerodynamic side to help the car be competitive in qualifying with high ride heights. It is based on variable air pressure zones.
So like I said there is no change to the ride heights. There are plenty of zones in the shape of the car to make it work very well on high ride heights. The effect of this shape will diminish as the car gets heavier under full load. But this loss is compensated by the fact that the car's reference plane is lower due to the heavy load. Its an advantage that no one can catch up to unless they redesign the entire car. The best bet is if they learn how it works then they have a shot in 2011. RE: Redbull RB6
Autosport says
Quote:He (Mclaren's Jonathan Neal) also played down the significance of the blown diffuser - the most notable element of the Silverstone upgrade - agreeing with recent suggestions from Red Bull's Christian Horner that the device's contribution to performance had been over-estimated. These bastards are slowly trying to push the blame onto the teams now. It was Autosport who started these laughable idiotic rumors that the blown diffusers were worth several tenths. Just like they put a lot of baseless allegations about active ride heights on Redbull's car. These farts will never own up and admit they have been putting out disinformation all the time. RE: Redbull RB6
In the beginning RB6 was thought to be the perfect machine for formula one. It was developed by Adrian Newey, the chief technical officer of Red Bull. I had the chance to watch it in action recently. Sebastian Vettel was driving it during the Bahrain Grand Prix. He was leading until lap 33. After that his car started showing exhaust problems and this forced him to reduce speed. I am of the view that this engine is good but there is still room for improvement.
