Flybrid to offer flywheel based KERS technology for 2011 if FOTA is interested
British company Flybrid has offered to give the entire grid its Flywheel based KERS package. FOTA is willing to consider a homologated standard supplier to reduce costs of having the KERS systems onboard their cars.

This will only be significant if they offered the technology at a competitive price that's affordable for all teams, especially the new teams.

Some teams, again the new teams, would like to only consider it when the new engine formula comes into force for 2013. This is also valid point since the changes in engine configurations also requires revisiting the power requirements from a KERS unit.

They will look at their options in an official FOTA meeting ahead of the Spanish GP

Williams, apart from the then Honda team, is the only other team to have worked and developed a flywheel based KERS system prior to last year.
