Ferrari 150° Italia upgrades for turkey/Monaco GP?
There are shots of Massa testing at Fiorano of what is alleged by sections of the press to be new side pods, exhaust layout and front wing end plates.
But after going through them they are the same as the ones run in China, if these are the shots they took then this is not an upgrade. Or they put out the wrong shots if Ferrari had indeed tested anything new. The car at Fiorana this week, pay attention to the lightly highlighted areas ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() source: f1revolution.com Now compare that to what was already run at the Chinese GP ![]() ![]()

Well whoever said Ferrari were running new bits are a tad stupid no? I thought it was illegal to run new parts in these promo-type runs?

This rule is not that clear at moment. There are some other teams who ever doing some similar runs elsewhere and they seem to have some new bits on their cars. But since its limited to just straight line tests. No one seems to be bothering Lotus. Will verify if Lotus really had a any new bits on their cars at the recent straight line test which Funky went to. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. It was autosprint that published it, they pulled that one right our of their arses. Just to get some hits and something to write about.
But the funny thing is the so called popular twitter celebs in F1, which includes some journalists and some tech columnists like Scarborough have re-twitted the same claim. Some people just don't check stuff before re-twitting them. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Found more detail about what is explicitly mentioned in the latest sporting regulation as per the FIA with regards to filming and promo sessions This is what is says Quote:22) TRACK AND WIND TUNNEL TESTING It doesn't say that the cars have to be a of spec previously raced in F1. So in theory they can have parts in filming sessions. Usually filming and promotional events are done at much slower speeds with a chase car filming the F1 car doing stylish maneuvers to look for the tele. But even this is not written in stone. We can recall Massa using 2009's Ferrari world finals session to drive 8 laps at full speed under the pretext of testing massa's peak efficiency in a timed lap So its clear nothing is as explicit as one would wish it to be when it comes to these peculiar non-testing scenarios. The FIA is investigating the new rear wing of Alonso Ferrari Fernando Alonso has released this Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya a new rear wing that could cause problems because the FIA is looking into whether the novelty of the Ferrari car is within the law or not. Charlie Whiting, Race Director of the FIA, has said that "no team has reported to Ferrari, but we have to decide whether it is a correct interpretation of the rules." ![]() Fernando/Ferrari do not seem to gain an advantage from this rear wing anyway.

RE: Ferrari 150° Italia upgrades for turkey/Monaco GP?
It increases straight line speed, it can be illegal since the top level of the rear wing as to be on level of the rest of the regions, while the word "entire length" is not used it is uderstood the wing cant be lowered at any point. This can be protested. I doubt this gurney flap modification will get them any wins. Perhaps Ferrari is just act out of desperation?
Because they usually increase profile of the wing there by increase downforce by mainting the flow of the air around it more stable, simialr to complex designs but achieved through this simple modification it also helps get higher speed on the straights.

RE: Ferrari 150° Italia upgrades for turkey/Monaco GP?
They have banned it, as icegirljenni has already explained while the benefits are there its not a game changer, they need work harder in other key areas. This is not the way to go forward, This is not clever, its just desperation. This is nothing new, Dan Gurney first introduced the concept in the 70s, a concept named after him.
No one uses this because obviously you breach the height of the rear wing. More here The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. I know this will definitely get banned. Rules are clear about max height.
