Channel 4 in talks with FOM for F1 broadcast rights?
It seems the rumors of BBC dropping F1 have some weight after all.
With BBC loosing the TV license fee they used to suck out from customers on the apparent threat of imprisonment, due to a freeze by the UK govt, money laundering TV broadcaster the BBC may be looking for an early end on their contract that runs until the end of 2013. If Channel 4 gets it then races will be interrupted by ads and of course cutting the race out altogether so some small group of jobless folks in their back yards can watch Coronation street. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Aryton SENNA, the 1 and ONLY I'll be there to personally to slap michael shoe-licker when the "Farting Horse" empire falls and its years of cheating exposed.

RE: Channel 4 in talks with FOM for F1 broadcast rights?
Hey tension, I'm one of those jobless folks that watches Coronation Street
But FYI, Channel 4 doesn't actually show Coronation Street...that's on ITV But I seriously doubt that F1 would go to C4, I'd be amazed if they were able to afford it at all. Plus, they really don't have much experience in broadcasting sports events, apart from cricket and I'm not even sure if they still show that anymore ![]() But I guess even if it did go to C4 or even back to ITV, I'd prefer it to F1 becoming PPV, even if it did mean dozens of adverts that are almost always taken at the most exciting part of a race. I couldn't nor wouldn't pay to watch F1 ![]() Perfer et obdura, dolor hic tibi proderit olim |

Isn't Coronation Street is some soap opera?

Yeah, it's a soap opera, not the greatest show on earth but it passes the time of day for us jobless folk you know?

Sorry if I have offended you as you seem to watch the show but I do find people fighting fist over feet to watch Coronation Street when there is a good spectacle like F1 going on, rather awkward. I think the comments in 2007 where something like "Why did they have to switch to some F1 race when we had a regular show that many in the UK wait eagerly to watch" I guess they really wanted to see who is cheating on whom and who is getting angry at whom in a fictional world more than whos winning a race in the real world. ![]() Well good for them I guess. |

Hahaha, no you haven't offended me at all...that was just my attempt at humour that obviously failed
![]() I would not be one of those people complaining if a soap opera got cancelled in favour of an F1 race ![]() Perfer et obdura, dolor hic tibi proderit olim |

RE: Channel 4 in talks with FOM for F1 broadcast rights?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mr Ecclescakes say that F1 should remain free to air??? I have Sky Sports because I'm insanely obsessed with the sports I follow but it's bloody expensive - roughly £50.00 per month and a significant amount of money to anyone other than an F1 driver or FOM boss.
Eddie Jordan and the RBR love-in aside, the BBC have excellent coverage that is watched worldwide and I'm very disturbed by this new "deal". The blogs and features on the BBC website are great and I actually like Jake Humphrey, which is saying something. So Bernie thinkis it will widen the audience??? No, it's just Murdoch making up for not being able to own F1 and making a whole load of cash too..........it stinks. ![]() Siempre.......... |

Yep you're right maranellored, Mr. Ecclescakes (hehe good one!) did say that F1 should stay free to air but you wouldn't want to take anything he says too seriously...he's an old senile man you know?
![]() It really does suck, I really enjoy the beeb's coverage too We do have a Sky subscription but only the very basic package, if we were to get the Sky Sports package, like you mentioned we'd have to fork out twice what we're paying now and seeing as how I'm the only one who wants to watch F1 in my household, it would only be fair that I'd have to pay the extra money and I just can't afford to do that ![]() Ah, it sucks so much

RE: Channel 4 in talks with FOM for F1 broadcast rights?
The BBC made a statement on its sports website explaining why they're giving up on F1 and about 6000 people have complained in just over 24 hours...............
I feel really sorry for those people who rely on BBC World for F1 coverage because now they'll only get half a season........... ![]() Siempre.......... |
