Button close to another Mclaren deal plus reports of Ferrari interest in him
Several media sources have claimed he has been contacted by Ferrari for a deal for 2012 and beyond or after 2012 and beyond. Since he has an existing contract option with Mclaren. And this option is Mclaren's to take up and not necessarily Button's to reject.
Meanwhile Autosport insists he is on course for a new Mclaren deal. A more likely scenario by a all counts. This obviously has to be the regular games played by his management to make Mclaren pay up what button rightly deserves compared to what the skin color pimping junk in the sister car is getting. Antics of shamilton's management about having seen him chatting with Christian horner at Redbull after the last race, maybe another ploy in action to make Mclaren increase the pay terms for its greedy management and itself. Why will anyone get a trash can on wheels into their team when they have a gem in Vettel is beyond logic. But of course all of this will be well played if the chat was nothing more than a show of wits to Mclaren's management. Now the fun part would be if someone higher up looses their patience and blinks first kicking the vermin out by signing up someone else into the team since this clown has been threatening to leave if it did get a title on silver plater. But this is unlikely to ever happen. No matter how much Ron Dennis may perversely love his marketing protege, Mclaren engineers will not be pleased by the constant bitching and complaining about the car when Button is able to get the goods done with even less moral support from the team Don't see the Ferrari move really happening, it wont work good for Alonso's if Button is truly given equal status. So why change from one number 2 position to another one at Ferrari? All the costs and hassles of relocating all for being a side kick? Not at all, the Ferrari rumors have to be taken with a big pinch of salt. The real Mclaren died in 2006, the king is dead, long live the king. Alonso will beat buton but button is no slouch like Massa he will take points off Alonso, possibly handing the title to the nearest rival team The reality of winning in F1 these days is you need a good lead driver and supporting Junior. Because everyone is not playing by the rules of fair free racing. If that was the case then two top drivers can be in one team when everyone is following these ethics. Now its all about one driver focus per team. Placing everything in one basket. Redbull had the ideal situation last year because of their own reliability issues lending itself to a fight to the end scenario. If not they would have made someone number 1 half way through the season, be it Vettel or webber. No team will be open to allowing the drivers race right till the end. Used to happen way back but not anymore. Hence why button or any good driver is bad to be paired up with Alonso. They will only take points off of each other. Button is no Massa, he will win races if Alonso can wins races in the same car. That's a given. But merely beating him in the points tally isn't the goal, the title is. Ah ok I get you now - fair point I guess. It's a shame it's like that though, it would be nice to see two top tier drivers in the one team fighting it out but I guess it doesn't work like that

RE: Button close to another Mclaren deal plus reports of Ferrari interest in him
I just saw the news. I don't see it happening either. Although I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of Button's driving style sometimes. He is too conservative, passes people only if he is in a good day, like in Canada that I admit he did very well, but I think that he would help Ferrari. He would at least bring points to the team, right? But why go to another team to be number two again? No point on that. I agree.

Only thing missing, him being number like he should be. But button is working on that. Getting under the pig's skin. Button might actually pull off something Alonso couldn't do, steal the thunder from the pig in its own back yard. Now that's an achievement.

RE: Button close to another Mclaren deal plus reports of Ferrari interest in him
Yes,because Fernando can't play with others' rules like McLaren wanted him to do. Button was clearly number two the first years, just this year managed to show and prove himself. Fernando is a Mediterranean guy, he can't wait that much. And he wants equal rights from the very beginning. That is why he left so soon from the team. He couldn't get what he deserved.

I am no fan of Button too but he is a consistent guy, if you put him for competition he might till the end. It was sad he is no.2 but his time is over ... though...
Don't think he will be send to Ferrari but the possibility is there though. |

RE: Button close to another Mclaren deal plus reports of Ferrari interest in him
He wont need to go anywhere, if button keeps irritating the pig and its crew, the pig will be the first one to walk out of the team. And Button gets clear number 1 status.
