Sauber to launch car on 31 January

Quote:Sauber has become the first Formula 1 team to set its 2010 launch date, having announced that it will reveal its new car at the Valencia circuit on Sunday 31 January.

The squad will hold its launch on the eve of the first pre-season test, which takes place at the Spanish track from 1-3 February. The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) had originally hoped that all 13 teams could reveal their 2010 cars in a single launch event, but this plan had to be shelved on logistical grounds.

Founder Peter Sauber has reclaimed ownership of his team for 2010 following BMW's withdrawal and the abortive Qadbak takeover, although it is still using BMW Sauber F1 Team as its official title at present.

BMW's departure has led to staff reductions at Sauber, and a switch to Ferrari engines. The team has signed ex-Toyota man Kamui Kobayashi as its first driver but is yet to announce who will occupy its second cockpit.

Ferrari to unveil new car on 28 January

Quote:Ferrari has announced that it will launch its 2010 Formula 1 car on Thursday 28 January.

The team recently revealed that its new challenger will be designated the 281, and will make its track debut at the first post-testing ban running at Valencia on 1 February.

Ferrari is determined to mount a resurgence in 2010, having halted development on its frustrating 2009 car early in the season in order to pour maximum effort into this year's machine.

It has signed Fernando Alonso from Renault to replace Kimi Raikkonen alongside Felipe Massa this season.

So Fernando Alonso helmet will definitely be ready before that , cant wait.

Lotus will unveil their car on the 12th February 2010. they will fire up their engine on the 5th of February 2010.

Meanwhile Mclaren will reveal their MP4-25 on the 29th of January 2010.

Renault will launch their R30 on the 31st of January 2010 at Valencia, Joined by Sauber.

Clever way to get Alonso to have a feel of how sub-standard the F60 was in performance.

It doesn't look like a photo shop, it does look like the real deal.

Some of the cars I am most looking forward to seeing come launch time.

Redbull RB6 (most interested)
Mercedes GP Challenger (interested)
Mclaren MP4-25 (interested on their front wing and rear packaging)
Virgin Racing's challenger (acid test for them and USF1 for going down the pure CFD route)
Ferrari Challenger (but I suspect I will be underwhelmed by its design)

Mclaren are going to stream their car/team launch events live from their website, thanks to modern flash video streaming technology boom.

Anyone interested in watching it? Its going to be a good comedy show. Button who is a natural will be pulling the crowd's interest where as vile fart whiner boy will be trying hard to get in the way of Button's limelight.

My interests though are purely the car itself.

So Mercedes will launch first , eh?
Ferrari 2nd , McLaren 3rd , Sauber 4th... and so forth.
Lets see when the other Teams will present their challangers for 2010.
Maybe they will be in between the other presentaions ?

Mercedes will launch the team officially but will not show the car on the 25th, that will have to wait till Feb 1st oddly

More conflicting news, James Allen is reporting that Mercedes will show off their new car tomorrow. While autosport mentions and lists their car launch as the 1st of Feb 2010.

We'll soon find out.

German publication Bild though says pretty much what JA is claiming in his blog. Bild have been very accurate on German manufacturer matters since they seem to have either good insiders within those teams or Mercedes themselves do pass on information to them more often.

Is an old just as autosport said. They are very clever, they dont want the photographer to take a snap of the details they will only show the car on 1st Feb.

The place on the engine over where its says "Mercedes-Benz" on a black splash looks really amateurish in design.

From some angles it looks good especially from the front but from the sides its lack luster. Looks more like a badly done paint job, more like bird droppings splattered on the engine covers..

They could have done a a far better job on it.
